Pushing Forward With the Peak Garden Office Build: In-Roof Solar & Battery Backup Installed
Like many businesses in the renewable energy sector, we’re constantly on the move—installing systems, supporting customers, and delivering solar solutions across the region. But this week, we finally carved out some valuable time to push forward with one of our own internal projects: the new Peak garden office build.
This space is more than just an office. It’s a demonstration of modern renewable energy design, a testbed for the technologies we install daily, and a showcase of how homes and businesses can future-proof their energy use with the right setup.
With work now progressing, our latest milestone has been the installation of an advanced in-roof solar PV system, ready to be paired with a SIG Energy gateway and full battery backup solution. Below, we dive into what we’ve installed so far, why we’ve chosen this setup, and how the space is taking shape.
Building a Workspace Powered by Clean Energy
The focus of this phase of the build has been energy: creating an office space that runs efficiently, sustainably, and intelligently.
Rather than opting for a traditional on-roof solar setup, we chose a sleek Mounting Systems integrated in-roof solution. This approach blends the panels directly into the roof structure, offering a premium aesthetic while providing all the benefits of high-performance solar PV.
Integrated systems are ideal for modern builds and garden offices alike. They provide:
- A flush, streamlined appearance
- Reduced roof penetrations
- Strong weather resistance
- Excellent long-term durability
- Higher value and visual appeal
This aligns perfectly with what we want the new Peak office to represent: quality, innovation, and thoughtful design.
In-Roof Panels Installed and Ready for Commissioning
Earlier this week, our team installed the in-roof panel system, including the full mounting frame and PV modules. As with all projects, precision was key—ensuring correct spacing, structural integrity, and optimal performance.
Once complete, the system will provide:
- Consistent renewable energy generation
- Significant reductions in grid dependency
- A real-world demonstration of the systems we install for our customers
The energy generated from these panels will feed directly into a smart storage and gateway setup, which is the next major step in the build.
Preparing for the SIG Energy Gateway & Battery Backup System
Solar is powerful on its own, but paired with battery storage and advanced energy management, it becomes the foundation of true energy independence.
That’s why the new office will incorporate a SIG Energy gateway alongside a battery backup system. This combination provides:
1. Energy Storage
The battery stores unused solar energy throughout the day, allowing us to power the office in the evenings or during low-sun periods.
2. Backup Power
If the grid goes down, the office can remain operational thanks to the gateway’s backup functionality—ideal for maintaining productivity.
3. Energy Management
The gateway ensures optimal use of stored energy, monitoring inflows and outflows to maintain efficiency.
4. Reduced Energy Costs
By using stored solar energy during high-tariff periods, long-term running costs can be significantly reduced.
This not only transforms the office into a resilient workspace but serves as a live example for customers considering battery storage solutions themselves.

Why This Build Matters for Peak
While this garden office will be a functional workspace for our team, it also acts as:
A Demonstration Hub
Customers will be able to see in-roof solar and battery systems working firsthand.
A Testing Environment
We can trial new technologies, monitoring platforms, and configurations before rolling them out to customer sites.
A Statement of Our Standards
By installing the same systems we recommend to customers, we reinforce our commitment to quality and long-term performance.
A Sustainable Operational Space
The office will run primarily on solar energy, reducing our footprint while showcasing the benefits of renewable solutions.
What’s Next for the Build?
Like all busy installers, finding uninterrupted time to work on our own projects isn’t easy—but we’ll continue updating progress as the garden office develops.
Upcoming phases include:
- Installing the SIG Energy gateway
- Mounting the battery system
- Wiring, commissioning & monitoring setup
- Interior finishes and workspace layout
- Smart controls and energy management integration
And of course, once everything is fully operational, we’ll share a complete walkthrough of the system and its performance.
Follow the Journey
This project is an exciting milestone for our business, and we’re looking forward to sharing more updates as things progress—once we get another five minutes to breathe!
