A Stunning Solar Ground Array in Wareham, Dorset: Our Latest Peak Project

At Peak, we’re lucky to work on some incredible renewable energy installations across the South West—but every now and then, a project stands out not just for the engineering involved, but for the experience as a whole. Our recent solar ground array installation in Wareham, Dorset was one of those memorable jobs: a mix of technical precision, beautiful surroundings, friendly customers, and even a few curious goats.

This blog takes you behind the scenes of the project—what we delivered, how it went, and why installations like this play such an important role in the UK’s transition to cleaner, greener energy.

A Scenic Location With a Warm Welcome

From the moment our team arrived on-site, we knew this project would be special. The customer’s land offered the ideal setting for a ground-mounted solar system: open, well-positioned, and free from shading. But the real charm came from the animals who share the property—particularly the goats, who were more than happy to supervise our progress.

After completing the installation, we recently returned to get the customer’s mobile monitoring app set up and running. While we were there, we couldn’t resist stopping by to see the goats again. It’s not every day that our engineers gain a fan club of four-legged spectators!

Delivering a Full Groundworks and Solar Installation Package

This project involved a complete, end-to-end service from our team. For the system to deliver maximum performance and long-term reliability, every detail had to be executed with precision.

Full Groundworks Package

We handled all groundworks onsite, ensuring the land was properly prepared for the mounting system. Ground-mounted solar requires careful planning and accuracy, from levelling and layout through to cable trenching and structural positioning. Our in-house team takes pride in delivering this stage cleanly and efficiently, with minimal disruption to the customer’s land.

30kW of High-Performance Solar PV

The heart of the system is a 30kW array, offering the customer a significant renewable energy source with the potential for excellent long-term savings. This level of solar generation is ideal for rural properties, farms, estates, and businesses looking to offset large energy demands or reduce reliance on the grid.

Even on cloudier days, a 30kW system produces substantial power—and when paired with monitoring software, customers can track exactly how much energy their panels are generating in real time.

Solarport Concrete Piled Mounting System

For this array, we used a Solarport concrete piled mounting system, chosen for its durability, stability, and suitability for the terrain. This type of mount provides a strong foundation without the need for invasive excavations, making it an ideal solution for rural and agricultural settings where maintaining land integrity is important.

Solarport mounting systems are engineered to withstand UK weather year-round, offering long-term performance with minimal maintenance. For the customer, this means peace of mind and a system that’s built to last.

Setting Up the Customer App: Energy at Their Fingertips

Once the installation and commissioning were complete, we visited again to help the customer get set up with their mobile monitoring app. This part of the process is always exciting—it’s the moment customers get to see their system come alive.

With the app in place, they can now:

  • View real-time solar generation
  • Monitor system performance
  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly output
  • See how much energy they’re offsetting
  • Maximise usage of the free solar power being produced

Empowering customers with data helps them make the most of their investment and understand the real-world benefits of going solar.

A Project That Showcases What Solar Can Do

This installation in Wareham is a perfect example of how solar can fit seamlessly into rural or semi-rural settings. Ground-mounted systems offer a brilliant solution for anyone with available land—whether for agricultural operations, commercial use, or personal energy independence.

With electricity prices remaining unpredictable and sustainability becoming more important than ever, systems like this are a smart and future-proof investment.

For our team, it was a pleasure from day one. The combination of a proactive customer, an excellent site, and the scenic Dorset countryside made the process smooth, enjoyable, and highly rewarding.
